Boys 5-6 Division

General Rules and Information

All divisions follow FIFA rules with some exceptions in the divisions to maintain the instructional nature of the recreational program. Division coordinators send out season-by-season divisional changes.

General Information
  • 9 v 9
  • 9 v 9 (8 + GK and at least one substitute)
  • In the regular season, if one team has just 8 or 9 players, both teams
      will play 8v8. If one team does not have 8 players, a forfeit is called and coaches should
      combine teams to scrimmage. If both teams have less than 8 players, a double forfeit is
      called and coaches should combine teams to scrimmage.
  • Two 24 minute halves; no extra-time
  • No slide tackles or heading (if unintentional play stops only if there’s concern about
      the player otherwise play will continue, indirect kick awarded for intentional contact)
  • Offside calls are made.
  • Substitutions are made from midfield, at the discretion of the referee
      on any kick-offs (by either team), goal kicks (by either team),
      corner kicks (by either team) or throw-ins (by either team).
      No substitutions during free kicks or drop balls.
  • Players have a maximum of five seconds for a goal kick or throw-in
      after the referee starts a countdown.
  • Cards are issued for dangerous play and inappropriate conduct.
  • Players receiving a Yellow Card must be substituted out for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Playoffs
  • All teams play in the playoff tournament
  • Placement Standings: Win (3 pts), Draw (1 pt), Loss (0 pts) with
      tiebreaker as Coach head-to-head record, then least goals allowed, then coin toss
  • FOS overtime format if a playoff tournament games ends in a tie
